We also offer a Summer Program at the Lincoln Street School in Exeter as well as at our Pease Center in Portsmouth for children in 1st through 5th grades. The Summer Program runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-5:30 pm. The program goes on weekly field trips and participates in a variety of team building activities, group games, projects and theme weeks.
Creativity/Individuality – Children will have the opportunity to develop or improve self-respect, a positive self-image, the ability to function independently, and to take pride in their accomplishments.
Example: Allowing children to select from a wide range of activities and interesting choices, which address differing developmental levels.
Physical – Children will have the opportunity to develop or improve fine motor skills, increase their strength, increase their energy level and develop exercise habits that support a healthy lifestyle.
Example: Providing activities and materials that require fine motor skills such as: drawing, painting, sewing, bead work and Lego construction. Offering sports and game activities that require the use of gross motor skills such as: Team sports and cooperative group games.
Social/Emotional – Children will learn to work and play cooperatively with peers and adults while developing their confidence to solve personal problems through conflict resolution techniques.
Example: Encouraging children to express themselves in a verbal and non-threatening manner. Involving the children in setting clear limits, learning the rules and understanding consequences.
Community – Children will have the opportunity to be active participants in their program community as well as their town community. They will explore and learn how to become active community members.
Example: Involving the children in planning and in taking responsibility for room maintenance, group behaviors and rules and consequences. Exploring their surrounding community and inviting guest speakers to come in and speak.
