At Great Bay Kids Company we have always held ourselves to high standards, to ensure that the children in our programs receive the best care possible in a positive, nurturing environment. Licensed Plus - Quality Child Care for New HamphireTo that end, Great Bay Kids Company is proud to be a Licensed Plus Care Provider, a Standards Program overseen by the NH Department of Health and Human Services/Bureau of Child Care Licensing. Earning Licensed Plus status from the state is one way we show our commitment to our families, as well as the staff that serves the children at Great Bay Kids Company.
As a Licensed Plus Provider, Great Bay Kids Company must remain current with extensive guidelines set forth by the state which include:

Licensing:
  • Must be licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services/Bureau of Child Care Licensing
Administration & Business Practices:
  • Required to review and evaluate annually, all administrative and teaching staff.
  • Programs must have written personnel policies that detail the current personnel policies and there must be a written job description of each paid position.
Learning Environment:
  • Program must document that at least one current employee has attended a workshop in the past twelve months incorporating NH Early Learning Guidelines.
  • The program must have a written curriculum plan and a statement that outlines and explains the program’s current curriculum.
Parent/Family Involvement:
  • The families of enrolled children are welcome in the program at all times.
  • Program must communicate with parents/families of enrolled children, in writing on a regular basis and program policies must be communicated via a parent handbook, enrollment materials, contract, welcome letter or other written communication.
  • Programs must offer the parents of enrolled children a parent/teacher conference on an annual basis.
  • Program director must complete a strengthening families self-assessment form.
Children with Special Needs:
  • The program must welcome children and families of all abilities and must modify the program and make reasonable accommodations to maintain children with special needs in the program.
Professional Development:
  • The program directors and all associate and lead teachers must complete a minimum of 9 hours of professional development activities including childhood education; management; administration and leadership on an annual basis.
  • Program Directors must verify that professional development plans are in place for program directors and lead teachers.
  • Program Directors, associate, and lead teachers must have achieved minimum Level 1 Credential from the NH Early Childhood Professional Development System, administered by DHHC- Child Development Bureau.
Staff Qualifications and Compensation:
  • Programs must document the benefits provided to all program staff, including paid vacation, holiday and health insurance.
Licenses Plus Standards:
  • At least half of program’s teaching staff must are required to have at least 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education and/or child development.
  • Program must have written salary scale, which indicates compensation range for positions based on qualifications and tenure.
Program Evaluation:
  • Program Directors must submit copies of both the program’s parent surveys and staff surveys, to verify that surveys have been distributed to parents of enrolled children and staff within the last 12 months.
  • An environmental rating scale (ECERS, ITERS, FDCRS, SACERS, ECERS-R, ITERS-R) must be completed for the program.
  • Program must have written improvement plan based on evaluation tools chosen by the Program Directors.
